The experiment found that the desert without water conservation treatment area, drip irrigation every day, consume a lot of fresh water; In the areas that have been treated with Zhengsai water retention, drip irrigation is performed once every 7 days.

In November 2023, when the temperature dropped and Zhengsai's team withdrew from the site, they calibrated the dunes around the experimental base in order to evaluate the movement of the dunes in the next year.

In April 2024, Zhengsai's team entered the Tengger Desert site again and found that the area that had been covered with water had a lot of snow trapped in it, and the desert was very wet under 20 centimeters, while the desert that had not been treated had dry sand within 2 meters. Trees planted last year and alfalfa and weeds have begun to sprout spontaneously.

The experiment proved that Zhengsai's desert water conservation technology was successful, saving 70% of water than traditional drip irrigation, and greatly reducing the consumption of fresh water resources in desert treatment. This technology can last for 100 years in one construction, and further proves that it is possible to restore a considerable part of the desert to green at a low cost in the future.

Once the technology is promoted and applied, a considerable part of the desert can be turned into fertile fields, grasslands and forest farms, contributing to the improvement of the national environment.
