Zhengsai Desert Tree Planting Technology - Participate in the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification Conference

On December 4, 2024, the China-Middle East Desert Rose and Green Industry Seminar was held in the "China Pavilion" of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh. The seminar was hosted by the Research Center for Energy Transformation and Social Development of the School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University and co-hosted by the China-Arab Green Development Cooperation Center. Focusing on desert industries, this seminar aims to promote technical exchanges and industrial cooperation by sharing the progress of desert rose planting, greening technology and garden industrialization between China and Middle East countries, and contribute Chinese wisdom to the "green Middle East". The workshop was supported by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Desertification Control of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Financial Coordination Center, the Saudi Agricultural Association, and the Rose and Aromatic Plant Association.

Huang Caiyi, Director of the Desertification Control Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, said in his speech that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the conclusion of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the 30th anniversary of China's signing of the Convention. We commend Saudi Arabia for its solemn commitment in recent years to address drought, desertification and land degradation, support the common goal of reducing land degradation by 50% by 2040, and offer technical support for the Green Saudi Plan to plant 10 billion trees and the Green Middle East plan to plant 40 billion trees. And expressed good wishes for the successful completion of this activity.

Dr. Aseel Othman Alsantely, Senior Research Specialist, National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Desertification Prevention, Saudi Arabia, delivered a keynote speech on Saudi Arabia's Contribution to Research and Innovation in Green and Sustainable Development. After that, Dr. Aseel Othman Alsantely, senior research expert, introduced the achievements made by Saudi Arabia in the field of ecological environment and protected natural areas, and looked forward to working with Chinese partners to promote desertification prevention and control.

Ms. Guo Lijun, Director of the China-Arab Green Development Cooperation Center, brought videos of the rose industry in Yao 'an County, Yunnan Province, China and Hotan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China to the guests, and shared with them the development experience of China's rose industry. China's rose industry has not only successfully realized modernization and standardized planting and production, but also completed industrial upgrading with digitalization and technology integration.

Next, Ningxia Yuansheng Lvyang Forest and Grass Ecological Engineering Company, Henan Zhengai Repair Technology Co., LTD., Zhongan Hualian Construction Group, Beijing Pophuaxia Culture Communication Co., LTD., Yuncheng Qinghai Technology Co., Ltd. respectively carried out the "Ningxia psammogenic plant seeds and seedlings", "Redundant desert planting new technology Speech Report", "Hui Camel" on the "Belt and Road", "Create green "Color Development Platform" and "Application Cases of" Tree Bao "in desertification Prevention and Control" delivered keynote speeches, contributing wisdom to the green transformation of desertification areas.

At the meeting, Wang Fuzhou, chief engineer of Zhengsai Repair Technology Co., Ltd. shared his experience in planting trees on the desert over the years. When I heard that the redundant water conservation and permeability reduction breathable technology of Zhengsi technology in desert can save 50%-70% more water than traditional drip irrigation technology, use the least fresh water and get the largest green space, and there are many real case pictures and videos. Mr. Abdulrahman Owad Al-Shelbi, president of the Saudi Agricultural Association Taif Branch and director of the Rose and Aromatic Plant Association, was very interested and put forward profound technical questions, and Wang Fuzhou, chief engineer of Zhengsai Repair Company, gave an in-depth reply, believing that the underlying logic of Zhengsai repair technology is correct and can be landed.

After the meeting, Mr. Abdulrahman Owad Alsherbi, President of the Taif Branch of the Thai Agricultural Association and director of the Rose and Aromatic Plant Association, specially invited the guests to walk into Taif city, which enjoys the reputation of "rose capital", to understand the current situation of the rose industry in Taif and invited everyone to participate in the 2025 Rose and Aromatic Plant World Forum. The Taif region has a long history of rose cultivation and currently produces 500 million roses a year.

At the end of the seminar, the "Green Middle East Initiative to Plant 50 Billion Trees Action Plan" was launched by the Energy Transformation and Social Development Research Center of Tsinghua University, the China-Arab Cooperation Center for Green Development, the Saudi Ministry of Water and Agriculture, the Saudi Financial Coordination Center, the Rose and Plant Fragrance Association and corporate partners. It includes jointly building a natural ecological demonstration zone, establishing a friendly exchange and cooperation mechanism between China and Saudi Arabia nature reserves, jointly building a plant nursery and seed bank in desert areas, promoting the localization of green technology, introducing industrial investment and technology incubation, introducing rose planting and processing technology and investment, increasing the annual production of Taif roses to 2 billion, and contributing to Saudi Arabia's green initiative.

The symposium was held under the mechanism of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, inviting guests from home and abroad to jointly exchange on desert rose industry and green technology, and will continue to carry out multilateral cooperation in the future, continue to explore and innovate on the road of green development, and contribute to the realization of "green Middle East" and even the global land degradation zero growth.
