From April 24th to April 26th, the highly anticipated 5th (2025) Desert Ecological Photovoltaic Power Plant Construction Forum and Observation Meeting for Photovoltaic Power Generation Projects in Deserts, Gobi, and Barren Areas was grandly held in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The forum brought together numerous industry experts and enterprise representatives, collectively focusing on cutting-edge technologies and development trends in the field of photovoltaic power generation in deserts, Gobi, and barren areas, and contributing ideas to promote the high-quality development of China's desert ecological photovoltaic industry.
The specially set up exhibition booths at the conference site became a "second front" for technical exchanges, with many experts, scholars, and enterprise technicians shuttling among them to engage in heated discussions. At the booth of Zheng Sai Ecological Restoration, the displayed ecological restoration technology models and application cases attracted a large amount of attention. Experts had in-depth exchanges on technical details such as new windbreak and sand fixation materials and brackish water purification devices. The collision of different viewpoints not only solved many puzzles in technical applications but also established good communication and cooperation relationships during the exchanges, laying the groundwork for subsequent cross-enterprise and cross-disciplinary collaborative innovation.
On the agenda for April 24, a dialogue and seminar on the construction and operational management of ecological photovoltaic power plant in deserts, Gobi, and barren areas attracted significant attention. Mr. Wang Fuzhou, Chairman of Zheng Sai Ecological Restoration, participated in the discussion and shared the company's professional technologies and unique insights in geospatial ecological restoration, soil and water conservation, and desertification control. As a technology research and development-oriented enterprise focusing on ecological restoration, Zheng Sai has deepened its expertise in related fields over the years and accumulated rich experience. Aiming at the challenges faced by the new energy wind power and photovoltaic industries, Zheng Sai Ecological Restoration has proposed a series of innovative solutions from a cross-industry professional perspective:
· Windbreak and sand fixation technologies to ensure base safety: Through unique windbreak and sand fixation techniques, the company effectively prevents sand dune movement, builds a solid defense line for the safe and stable operation of photovoltaic power plant bases, and reduces the risk of wind and sand erosion and damage to power station facilities.
· High-efficiency water-saving technologies to boost green photovoltaics: Its developed water-saving technologies achieve a water-saving rate of 50%-70% compared with traditional drip irrigation, enabling photovoltaic bases in water-scarce desert areas to achieve more green coverage and promote the sustainable development of the ecological environment.
· Brackish water utilization and land transformation: Zheng Sai Ecological Restoration has achieved the application of brackish water at basically "zero" cost, using it to transform large areas of saline-alkali and desertified land, opening up new avenues for the effective utilization of land resources around photovoltaic power plants.
· Innovative "photovoltaics + farmland creation" model: The company proposes the innovative concept of "photovoltaics provide energy, Zheng Sai creates fertile fields," combining photovoltaic power generation with land improvement to explore a collaborative development path of "photovoltaics + ecology," offering new possibilities for future desert development and construction.
On April 25, Wang Fuzhou, Chairman of Zheng Sai Group, delivered a wonderful speech titled New Technologies for Soil and Water Conservation and Desertification Control. With profound professional knowledge and rich practical experience, he elaborated in detail on Zheng Sai Restoration's latest technological achievements and application cases in the fields of soil and water conservation and desertification control, triggering strong resonance and in-depth thinking among the attendees. His speech not only provided valuable experience for technical exchanges within the industry but also offered new ideas and methods for solving ecological problems in the construction of photovoltaic power plants in deserts, Gobi, and barren areas.
On April 26, the conference arranged a field visit session. Participants went to the world's largest single desert photovoltaic project - the 3.5GW photovoltaic power plant in Midong District, Urumqi, operated by China Green Power. Located in the Midong District of Urumqi, Xinjiang, at the southern edge of the Gurbantonggut Desert in the Junggar Basin, the project is long and narrow in a north-south direction, covering an area of approximately 112,500 mu. Through the on-site visit, attendees gained an in-depth understanding of the actual construction, operation, and maintenance management of large-scale deserts, Gobi, and barren areas photovoltaic power plants, and learned many valuable experiences. Everything from the overall layout of the power plant, the application of advanced photovoltaic equipment, to the scientific and efficient operation and maintenance management model left a deep impression on the visitors, providing important references for the development of their respective enterprises in related fields.
The successful holding of the 5th (2025) Desert Ecological Photovoltaic Power Plant Construction Forum and Observation Meeting for Photovoltaic Power Generation Projects in Deserts, Gobi, and Barren Areas has built an efficient communication platform for the industry, promoting in-depth sharing and cooperation among all parties in terms of technologies, experiences, and other aspects. In particular, innovative technologies and concepts brought by enterprises such as Zheng Sai Ecological Restoration have injected new vitality into the ecological and sustainable development of photovoltaic power generation projects in deserts, Gobi, and barren areas. They have also pointed out a clearer direction for China's exploration and practice in the field of desert ecological photovoltaics. It is believed that with the joint efforts of numerous industry forces, China's desert ecological photovoltaic industry will embrace a more brilliant development chapter.
